A Field Guide to a Contaminated Wonderland

From 1983 to 2000 a Unilever thermometer factory discharged several tons of mercury through the air and water in the small hill town of Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India. Despite ample international environmental and medical research pointing to the hazards of mercury contamination, the local community continues to believe or they are made to believe the land is safe for habitation and live in denial.
